It’s a very exciting time for us here at Parkman George HQ. After the universal struggle of the last few months of lockdown we have a PG Pack get together in the diary. Socially distanced of course, and all for a very good cause.
When the PG Pack aren’t reclining in their luxury dog beds, they do love a good walk (well most of them!). So we thought, why not make the most of the beautiful outdoors and a team get-together by doing something supportive for charity.
This year WALK IT has adapted their usual format of a planned route around Bristol that finishes up with a pub lunch and doggy biscuits. Instead, the event will be held virtually, with walkers and runners – both people and pooches – taking on the 5km or 10km challenge across the country.
Frank, Halo, Lexi, Louie and ‘the boys’ (Reuben and Shiloh) will be completing their charity walk with their mums all keeping a safe social distance in a Sunday 16th August with the aim of raising £250 as a Pack.
This year it is even more important than ever that we support the charities that are close to us. It has been a horrendous year for charities up and down the UK and so many, including Crohn’s & Colitis UK have continued to support who need it most, whilst continuing with vital research work.
There are an estimated 300,000 people in the UK living with IBD, the collective name for Crohn’s, Colitis and the associated diseases. There is still so much unknown about these diseases that cause so much suffering and ill health for people young and old. There is no known cause or understanding as to why they can start at any time in your life and as such, there is currently no cure.
This charity is very close to our hearts at PG HQ. It is especially close to our founder Jessica’s heart. Crohn’s and Colitis runs deep in her family, with her first relative being diagnosed nearly 25 years ago. Since then countless members of her family have been diagnosed. Jessica herself has Crohn’s and has experienced first-hand the amazing work of CCUK when in 2015 a new medication stabilised her disease for the first time in many years.
Gillian from Crohn’s & Colitis UK is thrilled to have the PG Pack on board saying: “We are delighted to have the support of the Parkman George Team for our 2020 My Walk It event, this year’s virtual version of Walk It. With the support of this great team, and the 300 others who have registered so far, we are raising essential funds for our work and increasing awareness of these lifelong conditions. Thank you!”
You can sponsor the pack by visiting our Just Giving and follow our adventures on social media. We hope you will help us smash our target and add to the £45,000 Crohn’s & Colitis UK has already raised to help the 1000’s of people out there living with IBD.
